ARTIST INFO
Marco Lewis (born Emiliano Austruy) took his first steps into the spotlight in December 2008, at just 10 years old, as a drummer and singer in a Blues/Rock cover trio. What followed was a decade of performing—opening for renowned artists such as Dr. Feelgood, Boney Fields, Jerry Joe Weise, The Pogues, and Stéphane Sanseverino. Over 400 concerts, first as part of a trio, then a duo, honed his skills and shaped his journey. These years of live performances became a wellspring of experience, marked by countless musical encounters that cultivated his love for diversity, exploration, and the art of creating immersive atmospheres.

Though music had been his companion since childhood, it was during a 2013 trip to New York that a concert by American artist Jason Isbell profoundly moved him. Struck by the raw honesty of the performance, Marco realized he could not imagine a life without music. From that moment on, he resolved to evoke in others the same clarity and joy he had felt that night—a turning point that ignited his creative spirit and cemented his commitment to a life driven by melody and emotion.

At 18, he moved to Paris to pursue studies at the American School of Modern Music, learning under esteemed professors from Berklee College of Music, such as Cédric Hanriot, Brad Thomas Ackley, and Tim Miller. Collaborating on musical projects with these mentors further refined his ambitions. Marco’s professors recognized his curiosity, dedication, and captivating stage presence. As a multi-instrumentalist (voice, drums, guitar, piano), singer-songwriter, and arranger, Marco sought to broaden his horizons, embracing the demands of today’s artistic landscape.
His time with the Paris Gospel Choir enriched his understanding of harmony and collective expression.

In 2019, Marco reached a new milestone with the creation of his band, Go on a Journey, and the release of their debut album, Esperanza. This work fused the harmonic complexity of Jazz with the simplicity and wanderlust of Folk, reflecting his enchant for blending genres and creating new emotional landscapes.

Eager to further his growth, Marco began studying at The New School of Jazz in New York in September 2019. Immersed in the city’s vibrant music scene, he studied under legendary figures like Ron Carter, Christian Sands, and Jon Batiste. Yet, his time in New York was cut short in March 2020 by the global pandemic, prompting him to return to France. There, he embarked on an intensive creative journey, completing Out of Circus, a multidisciplinary artistic project exploring new musical horizons.

In January 2022, Marco returned to New York to complete his studies, graduating in July. Shortly after, he became the official musician at La Table, the restaurant of the prestigious Royal Mansour hotel in Marrakech. This period inspired his next venture: Around the Sound, a unique project where Marco reinterprets some of his favorite songs in meaningful locations tied to their stories. This journey took him across Ireland and the USA, blending travel, tribute, and storytelling into an unforgettable experience for his audience.

Marco defines his music as Indie-Folk/Pop, though his style resists being confined to a single genre. "I aim to place instability within stability," he explains. His compositions draw from Jazz, Folk, Pop, Gospel, and Blues, creating a mosaic of influences. Each piece is a journey—whether taken step by step or all at once—like a painting where every stroke invites closer inspection or a story that unfolds with twists and turns.

Speaking of his creative philosophy, Marco shares:
“Music is, above all, a human adventure. Every song should end with a smile, and, if possible, the work and technique should fade before the raw emotion. I don’t strive for complexity for its own sake or simplicity for its ease—I aim for words and melodies to resonate in the hearts and guts of those who listen. I want my music to be felt, not dissected. Time has always fascinated me, and I try to shake it up musically—infusing Jazz into Folk, sprinkling in Pop, adding a touch of Blues, and coloring it all with Gospel.

To me, music is like a painting or a novel—a canvas of emotions, a story with its twists and turns. I’ve grown weary of traditional verse-chorus formats, so I imagine each song as a journey, harmonizing lyrics, instrumentation, and atmosphere. My hope is for listeners to feel like they’re exploring new landscapes while reconnecting with something deeply familiar.
I try to be sincere, to show myself as I am—vulnerable. I believe that’s the first step toward being free with oneself and traveling with and for others.”

And I hope to share this journey with you.
